DekaFlex® is a revolutionary new armor from the industry leader in industrial cable, Dekoron Wire & Cable. DekaFlex® continues Dekoron’s long-standing tradition of innovation by providing a highly flexible, durable, and extremely strong cable armor, suitable for even the most demanding locations and environments. DekaFlex® is the new standard in cable armoring.
While DekaFlex® has a nearly limitless range of applications; it is designed primarily for use in Class I, Division 1 hazardous locations as defined by the National Electric Code (NEC) or other applications where traditional armors fall short. DekaFlex® provides superior flexibility, handling, and fatigue characteristics, as well as corrosion and cold-weather resistance, all while meeting and exceeding the stringent strength requirements of Class I, Division 1 cables. DekaFlex® is ideal for installations that require tighter bends and higher flexibility due to space limitations, need to withstand numerous bending cycles, need to withstand higher mechanical impact and crushing forces, and require superior corrosion resistance.
DekaFlex® armor outperforms traditional MC-HL type armors in numerous ways. Its greater flexibility, higher strength, and corrosion resistance make it the premium choice for use in the most challenging environments and the most hazardous of locations.
The cable design incorporates a unique continuously-corrugated, welded, flexible armor that is jacketed with a Low-Smoke, Zero Halogen (LSZH) material with a -53°C low temperature brittleness point as tested per ASTM D746. The finished cables are approved as Type MC per UL 1569 and Type MC-HL per UL 2225, and are suitable for National Electric Code (NEC) Article 501, 502, 503, 505, or 506 applications.
DekaFlex® instrumentation or control cables are available in various conductor sizes from 18 to 10 AWG, with 7-stranded, Class B conductors, in either bare or tinned copper. DekaFlex® can be custom designed in various configurations and constructions to meet other standards or special requirements. Additionally, DekaFlex® armor can be applied over most cable cores, including fiber optic cables, fieldbus cables, or specialty communications cables.
To complete the package, Dekoron also offers connectors designed specifically to interface with DekaFlex® cables. Connectors are available in the most common trade sizes and are fully certified by UL.
